This morning I came to the conclusion to drop you a few lines. we left Janesville wednesday morning and got to this place on Thursday evenng we had some dreadful roads it had snowed the day before we started and froze that the horses could scarcely get along. This is nicer country than about Pottsville there is some fine farms we are encamped in the fairground have good quarters for our horses but the men almost freeze the house is so large that a dozen stoves would not keep it warm I think we will get better quarters in a day or so. There is any amount of deserters here I was out last night we got one and a good soaking it has been raining every day since we've been here. I think we will get back to Pottsville again after we get some of the deserters out of this. Last night after we got about a quarter of a mile from the house there was a gun fired I suppose they would scare us we took one the other night in a stable he had a gun line alongside of him. This is the place that soldiers got shot this fall. They stay in squads of about a dozen in the mountains hunt deers there is any amount of game here the boys have 2 or 3 rabbits every day. I have seen several deers here I never got that box I suppose it is in Janesvillel I will send for it I must stop writing or I won't get my letter sent off and my fingers is so cold I can scarcely write
